Engage Mutual is to continue its support for The Steve Prescott Foundation for a third year. The mutual became main partner of the charitable foundation in 2010, during its seven year title sponsorship of the rugby Super League. Steve Prescott MBE commented,
"2012 is going to be another big year for us so it's fantastic that Engage Mutual is continuing its work with the SPF, not only because of the important financial backing but they also work hard to improve awareness of the foundation and our beneficiary charities."
The Steve Prescott Foundation had one of its most successful fund raising years in 2011, donating over £100,000 for the two charities, The Christie, Manchester's specialist cancer centre, and Try Assist which supports seriously injured rugby league players. The Foundation credits some of this success to the support received from proactive partners like Engage Mutual. The Foundation is spearheaded by the former international rugby league player Steve Prescott MBE who is battling an incurable form of cancer. This inspires the foundation to go beyond fundraising and encourage people to take on challenges and overcome adversity. Key events from the past 12 months have included a glitzy boxing evening where ex-players Paul Sculthorpe and Brian McDermott went toe to toe, the St Helens' 10k run, which is set to become an annual event, and the 'End-to-End Extreme challenge' where Steve and 15 others cycled from Lands' End to John O'Groats via the UK's National Three Peaks – all in just nine days.
